Headaches

Headache is the pain or discomfort in the head, scalp or neck. It can affect a small portion of the head such as the eyes or the entire head. Headaches can be very painful and may severely limit the normal activities in your daily life. The pain may be sharp or dull, and may come along with a variety of other symptoms like light sensitivity or nausea. Often headaches are secondary to muscular contractions at the base of the head or degeneration of the cervical spine. Sometimes they are brought on or aggravated by certain foods in your diet.

There are different Types of Headaches:
Tension, Migraine and Cluster Headaches

  1. Tension headaches are mostly associated with a person suffering stress or even poor posture. Others describe it like a tightening around the head. Continuous studies and research is being conducted to know the main cause/s of Tension headaches for there are many factors which may contribute in this condition.
  2. Migraine Headache is a condition which most persons suffering from it describes it as an intense, strong and throbbing ache usually involving only one side of the head but affects also most part of the head. Continuous research and studies is being conducted for scientists and doctors to find true cause and most effective treatment. Some studies shows it’s an imbalance in the trigeminal nerve that triggers dilation and/or inflammation of blood vessels in the head. This causes the throbbing pain during a migraine.
  3. Cluster headaches is said to affect men more than women. It is described as a sharp pain felt behind one of the eye that usually lasts from half an hour to an hour, or more. This can also be caused by irregular blood flow in the blood vessels of the head or trigeminal nerve although continuous studies are being made to determine the exact cause.
